Cyclone Amphan,Centre announces Rs 1500 crore relief fund for West Bengal,Bengal CM announces Rs 1,000 crore fund for restoration work

Almost 80 people died during the gigantic cyclone Amphan that took place in West Bengal on wednesday 20th may. It  slammed into the coastal region where India and Bangladesh meet Wednesday likely caused $13.2 billion dollars in West Bengal alone.



PM Modi announced an immediate relief of Rs 1,000 crore for West Bengal after he held an aerial survey and assessed the damaged by cyclone which claimed the lives on Wednesday. Banerjee, however, insisted that the state had sufferred losses of over Rs 1 lakh crore for which it needed to be compensated.


At one stage it was declared as a category 5 super cyclone, the highest category ever seen in the Bay, by the time cyclone Amphan hit the states of West Bengal and Odisha in India, it had been reduced to a category 3 storm.
